Like apple cider vinegar, baking soda makes your body more alkaline. People with high blood pressure are advised not to consider this remedy, however. If you are taking baking soda for gout, make sure to lessen the salt in your foods as baking soda has high sodium content. The maximum that you can have for a day is four teaspoons. Just mix 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to 8 oz of water.
