Nothing can be as unbearable as a toothache. If you’ve had a toothache, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. The pain can be excruciating. They mostly stem from cavities, abscess, loose fillings or a cracked tooth.
Let’s check out some home remedies to relieve a toothache.
Take an ice pack and cover it with a piece of cloth or towel. Gently place it on the cheek where the pain is coming from. The cold sensation will help in making you numb to the pain.
Tannins contained in tea leaves can numb the pain. After making a hot cup of tea, place the warm tea bag in your mouth. Warm and not hot. Let the tannins work their magic.
- SALTY WATER
Mix a teaspoon of salt to a cup of boiling water and stir to dissolve. Swoosh the water in your mouth for about 30 seconds. It will relieve the pain and at the same time make any debris. It has also been known to clear sore throats. Keep doing this as many times as possible. It has the added advantage of reducing swellings.
Capsaicin found in cayenne pepper blocks pain messages from reaching the brain. Make a paste of cayenne pepper by mixing equal amounts of pepper and salt with warm water. Gently place the paste on the affected tooth. Avoid the tongue and the gums.
This technique has been used for decades now. Cloves have anesthetic properties which will help to numb the pain. They also have antibacterial properties that will fight against infections. Grind to whole cloves and mix with two drops of olive oil. Then apply to the affected tooth.
