The thing about addictions is that they are not only in your body, but in your mind also. Breaking an addiction, especially to a substance like nicotine, you have to attack it both physically and psychologically. Anything short of that, and you’d only be wasting your time.
You must know that smoking will not leave you alone as easily as you are willing to leave it alone. Talk about a mistress who just won’t quit when the wife is home. So you have to treat it in pretty much the same way – uncompromisingly.
Different approaches work for different people, but I am certain that there is no hard and fast rule to quitting the cigarette. I think what you need to do is to keep trying all the techniques that present themselves to you. As you do them all, you will learn the ones that don’t help? and finally find the one that does help.
You cannot quit merely by thinking about it; you have to take positive steps. See a doctor, a shrink, or any of those medical professionals who know a thing or two about how to break the habit. I am certain they will have things to say that can help you change your life for the better.
