Do you know that your intolerance to certain food can lead to bad breath? How? You may ask. If you are allergic to some food, excess gas production may build in your stomach and this could reflux back and rise up to your mouth from where it will ooze out as bad breath.

Clinically, bad breath is known as halitosis. It is known to be caused by Volatile Sulphur Compounds (VSCs). These are the bacteria that break down protein in the throat and mouth. The action taken in this case leads to bad breath.

There are certain proteinous foods which may cause bad breath. These foods if not properly digested will make bad breath to come out of the mouth. Examples of these proteins rich foods are diary products like cheese, ice cream, milk, yogurt, chicken, beef and beans. So, ensure that these foods are properly digested to avoid bad breath.

Do you know that acid-containing foods can lead to bad breath? Yes, this is because acids are known to speed up the production of bacteria. Different kinds of foods will fall into this criteria and the examples you will know are: decaffeinated coffee, fruit juice, tomato juice and citrus juice.
