It appears as though sulfur has always been known to have a curative effect on acne. The nineteenth century does record doctors employing sulfur for the treatment of the condition by attempting to dry the skin by it, while the early twentieth realizes the curative Benzoyl Peroxide. This notwithstanding, not everyone is yet able to stand cured by the available medication. I suppose it just goes to show how different people really are from each other. What works for one person as far as acne is concerned might not work for another.
I am sure you might have heard about the effect of Retin A in curing acne, but know this – it is by no means a lasting and final cure to acne. Discovered in the middle of the last century, it was found to have a rather positive effect on people who suffer from the skin ailment, which is why it has been produced under the trade names ‘Tretinoin’ and Isotretinoin; the latter being more popular. Today, these pills are actually still in use for the same purpose. Way to go, eighties!
Technology has brought about the use of the laser as perhaps the best thing that ever happened in the world of acne. Because it is good enough, most nations of the West have it developed from what it was back in the eighties when it was stumbled upon, to what it is now, perhaps the best the world has to offer. There are still grey areas in the cure of acne, but thankfully, humanity is going nowhere whilst more research is done.
Skin blockage causes acne, age causes acne, secretion of hormones causes acne; pregnancy and menopause, they both cause acne. Why, I’m beginning to wonder if there’s anything that does not cause acne. Think of the foregoing as a man’s thoughts, and you might understand why a lot of people find it hard to live with the condition, even until they might mature enough to outgrow it.
